Meet Mrs. Duncan
Welcome to Mrs. Duncan's Kindergarten Classroom! I want to thank you in advance and let you know that I feel very fortunate to be teaching your child this year. My name is Tara (Darif) Duncan and I am originally from Ottawa, IL. I was born and raised there and most of my family still lives there. I have been married to John Duncan IV since 2007 and we currently reside in Peru, IL. We have two children; Kate and Jack.
I received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Iowa with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation in 2000. After graduating from the University of Iowa I was a Therapeutic Recreation Director in Joliet for five years at Hillcrest Healthcare Center; working with the mentally challenged. I really enjoyed my job, but knew my true passion was working with children. So, I went back to school at the University of St. Francis in Joliet for a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I did my student teaching with Mrs. Debbie Rounds, a second grade teacher at Roosevelt School and fell in love with the Peru District. I began teaching in the Peru district in 2004-2005.
My true passion is teaching children to succeed and become lifelong learners. I believe that together we will help them grow, learn and achieve for a lifetime. Again, if you ever have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me at anytime.
