About Me
About Mrs. May

My name is Shelley May. I live in Peru with my husband Brandon and two boys Nolan and Griffin.
I graduated from Illinois State University in 1997 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Following my semester of student teaching in kindergarten at Roosevelt, I was hired for the Title I reading position. The following year, I trained for Reading Recovery, a program for first grade students. I loved working in the area of Reading and went on to receive a Masters Degree in Reading from ISU. In 2010, I was proud to receive the Anne Roffol Excellence in Reading Recovery Teaching Award from ISU. I continue to have a passion for teaching Reading Recovery and Small Group interventions to those who need extra support. I believe all children can learn!
If at any time you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at 223-2567. Also, you are welcome to visit and view a lesson. I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Together we will help further develop your child’s skills and confidence in reading and writing.
