Playing Area
-There are no boundary lines.  The ball is in play at all times- unless the puck/ball is in the other court.
-The center line is the side of the free-throw lane extended.
-Play always begins in the center of the court with a Faceoff.  There is also a Faceoff after each goal scored.
-The goal box is a line marked with floor tape.

Positions
-Goalie:  the goalie may stop shots with feet, or stick
-Center: is the only player allowed to move full court and leads offensive play
-Defenders (2):  they may not go past the center line into the offensive area and whose responsibility is to keep the puck out of the defensive end of the court.
-Forwards (3):  they may not go past the center line into the defensive area and who work with the center setting up offensive plays.

Basic Rules of Floor Hockey/Pillo Polo

The Game
-Starts with a face off between the centers.

Scoring
-One point is scored each time the puck/ball passes across the goal line.
-Pucks/balls can deflect off of a player or equipment and go into the net for a point.
-Pucks/balls cannot be kicked into the goal.

Goalie
-No other players may enter the goal box.
-The goalie may be pulled from the goal box, but is restricted to the center line.
-The goalie can only hold the puck/ball for 3 seconds on a stopped goal.

 

Penalties
Players charged with a running penalty, roughing penalty, or misconduct penalty must sit out for 1 minute.  His or her team must play shorthanded for this period.  If the opposition during the penalty scores a goal, the player may return to the floor.


-Defense players and forwards crossing over the center line.
-Touching the puck/ball with your hand.
-Swinging the stick above waist height-High Sticking.
-Goalie throwing the puck/ball- they must put the puck/ball into play by hitting it with their stick.
-Player other then the goalie entering the goal box.
-Chopping at the puck/ball to raise it in the air.

-Hacking or striking with the stick
-Pushing, Tripping or Blocking with the Body
-Any action considered dangerous to other people
-Slashing with the stick (with or without contact to another player)

-Any time play is deliberately stopped by lying on, stepping on, or holding the puck/ball
-Too many players on the floor
