LANGUAGE ARTS : Theme 7 is in full swing! We are reading “The Bell in the Well” and have been discussing Nasty Nell and Jill who are the main characters in the story! We are reviewing proper nouns, and sentence structure for extra practice during independent writing activities. We have worked hard creating many SH and TH words using magnets, markers, pictures and of course the IPADS! Together we have practiced predicting, inferring, and making connections in text! Next week, we will wrap up theme 7, right before our break!
We love the NEW and IMPROVED Santa suits that have been coming in. We will be creating a writing piece soon to correlate with this activity. This works perfectly with our discussions of MAIN IDEA and DETAIL! We will also be WRITING TO SANTA HIMSELF! You may have seen a “NAUGHTY or NICE” paper come home, earlier in the week. We have been checking the “SANTA” websites to check it TWICE! If you explore www.emailsanta.com you can get a sneak peek at Santa on a WEB CAM! Very interesting to see Santa at work!
MATH: We are continuing to learn about subtraction and how to check our work by using addition. Math homework has been coming home; please help your little one check over any mistakes to correct. We have also reviewed addition, just to keep in practice! We will soon be “playing” gingerbread math games to correlate with our theme! Please continue to help your child and log in to www.xtramath.org for additional practice!
