School social workers help kids with a variety of issues. They include, but are not limited to: 

*self esteem                                                        

*self confidence                                                 

*shyness                                                             

*appropriate socialization with peers             

*making friends                                                                

*positive decision making                                  

*listening skills                                                      

*appropriate classroom behavior (hand raising, etc.)

*coping with home issues that may interfere with your child’s  schooling

*character building (respect, responsibility, etc.)

*feelings(expressing feelings, coping with negative emotions, etc.)

*behaving appropriately in unstructured settings (ex. recess)

*stress management

*anger management

*getting along with peers

*bullying

*handling teasing

*impulse control/self- control    

*sportsmanship 

*compliance

*following directions
