Welcome To Northview School
On behalf of the administration, staff, and students I would like to welcome you to Northview Elementary School, where our students are our first priority and we build educational foundations for life-long success. Our school serves students in Preschool through fourth grades. Northview School has an enrollment of approximately 560 students. Our dedicated, caring, and highly qualified faculty and staff members work diligently to educate our students. There are a variety of special education programs offered to the students as well as physical education, music, and art.
The Bright Futures Preschool Program serves 3 and 4-year old students. This program is a five day-a-week program and runs 2.5 hours per day. It is a tuition based program and the rates for tuition are based on financial need of the families. Transportation is available. Please click here for more information: Bright Futures Preschool
We pride ourselves on providing high quality education emphasizing literacy skills (reading/writing) and mathematics. Science and Social Studies are integrated into the literacy program along with thematic units. Our literacy curriculum covers five main areas: phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, and reading fluency. It is intense, varied, and aligned to the Illinois State Standards. Students are educated via a core reading program, individualized reading programs, research based intervention programs, and best practices in reading.
In addition to our reading program, we believe in a rigorous mathematics program. All grades have aligned their lessons to the new Math Standards. Students are allowed many opportunities to work with math manipulatives and hands-on learning tools. Problem solving and finding multiple ways to come up with the answer is encouraged.
Each classroom at Northview has at least four computers, there is a computer lab with 25 Chromebooks, and we have five(5) mobile Chromebook carts that are shared among students in grades 2-4. All classrooms also have an Epson Projector, which is an interactive technology tool that allows students to fully engage in their lessons. All students have access to iPads. This technology allows even more applications to be used during small group interventions, large group work, and literacy centers!
I look forward to working with you as we take the first steps in the educational journey of your children. We are proud of our school and welcome the opportunity to share more with you. Please feel free to contact us by calling 815-223-1111. We would be happy to assist you in any way that we can!
