Peru Public Schools Profile
Peru Public Schools District 124, an elementary school district of 1,050 students, serves the community of Peru, Illinois, a city of just under 10,000 residents. Peru is located in north central Illinois, just west of the intersection of Interstates 80 and 39, and 100 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. The district maintains three attendance centers: Northview Elementary (grades PreK - 1), Washington Elementary (grades 2 - 4), and Parkside School (grades 5 - 8). The district feeds into LaSalle-Peru High School. Some parents choose to send their children to St. Bede Academy, a private high school located in Peru.
Established in 1840, Peru Public Schools has a long standing tradition of academic excellence. The district offers its students a rich curriculum including Spanish, gifted education, state of the art technology, an outstanding fine arts program and a wide variety of extracurricular activities.
