Peru Elementary School District 124, commonly referred to as Peru Public Schools, serves the community of Peru, Illinois, a city of 10,000 residents located in north central Illinois. Peru ESD 124 has 1,020 students in three attendance centers: Northview Elementary School (grades PreK - 1), Washington Elementary School (grades 2 - 4), and Parkside Middle School (grades 5 - 8). The district feeds into LaSalle-Peru High School. Some parents choose to send their children to St. Bede Academy, a private high school located in Peru.
Originally established in 1840, the school district has a long standing tradition of academic excellence. The district offers its students a rich curriculum including preschool, gifted education, state of the art technology, an outstanding fine arts program and a wide variety of extracurricular activities.
