5th Grade - An Introduction to Music
Fifth grade students enrolled in Music class learn the basics of music history, composition, and performance. Parkside is proud to utilize unique technological tools such as Garage Band and Noteflight to make exploration and creation of music accessible to all students. Fifth grade students complete their course by writing an original composition in the blues style.

6th Grade – Music across the World
Sixth grade music students take an exciting journey through the music of cultures across the world. Students learn to play authentic songs on original instruments from places such as Bolivia, Guniea, Indonesia, Thailand, and Peru. Cultures and places covered this year include: Malinké (West Africa), Puerto Rico, China, Indonesia, India, Australia, and many others!
7th Grade – Music and our Society
Students enrolled in seventh grade music examine the growing relationship of music to modern society, technology, and popular culture over the last fifty years. Students use a variety of technology to create their own original songs and videos.
