Feedback Welcome on the Proposed 2012-13 Calendar
Early Dismissals Could Move to Fridays
January 31, 2011
Dear Parents and Guardians,
For the current school year, our one major change with the district calendar was the successful implementation of early dismissal days on Wednesday afternoons. With your support and assistance, this has been extremely helpful with the time that is required for implementing many local and state initiatives. As I explained last year, continuous improvement requires time for planning and working together, something the traditional school schedule does not allow.
I would like to ask for your support in continuing this for the 2012-13 school term, with one change under consideration at this time. That change would involve moving the early dismissal days from Wednesday to Friday afternoons. The times would remain exactly the same as they are now, with dismissal times of 2:00 p.m. at Parkside, 2:05 p.m. at Washington and 2:15 p.m. at Northview.
We are still studying the advantages and disadvantages to the move. Right now it appears there are likely more advantages to moving to Fridays, as this would allow us to hold Project Success at Washington and Parkside four consecutive days.
Having said this, we recognize that this can impact parents and families with your schedules at work and home. That is why I welcome your feedback. Please click here, or on the "2012-13 Proposed District Calendar" button on the upper-right side of this page to view the calendar. Please send any comments to mcross@perued.net, or feel free to give me a call at 815-223-0486. This will also be posted on our Facebook page.
As always, your suggestions are welcome and we truly appreciate your interest and input in whatever we can do to improve. Thank you!
Mark R. Cross, Superintendent
