Homeroom 6-3 and Language Arts
Welcome to 6th Grade Language Arts

Here are a few things you should know:
- 25% of grade is language
- 25% of grade is writing
- 25% of grade is spelling
- 25% of grade is DOL (daily oral language)

Spelling lessons are every other week.
A new lesson is introduced on Monday, and students are given an assignment using the list words. They have two days to complete the assignment. A dictation test is then given on
Friday. I begin with Lesson 1 and proceed through the lessons in the spelling text.

DOL DOL

DOL quizzes are weekly on the first day of the week.
Each day two sentences containing errors are written on the board. Students are to attempt to write the sentences correctly. Next we discuss the errors and the students edit their work so the sentences should be correct when they leave the classroom. At the end of the week students are given practice sheets to place into plastic covers to prepare for the test. |

Students are encouraged to come in before school for extra help; however, a pass is required to enter the building. Please ask for one when needed.
