| The Peru Bands are the bands of the Peru Public
School and Peru Catholic School systems. The band program is
available for students in grades 5th through 8th grade.
5th grade students can join the Peru Band program and be part of the 5th Grade Junior Band program. Students in 5th grade receive one 20 minute band lesson a week and participate in a before school rehearsal on Thursday mornings at 7:30 A.M. At the junior high level, students are welcomed into the band program regardless of their levels of musical proficiency. Beginning band students are given the instruction necessary to enable them to join the other novice players in the Cadet Band. The Cadet Band meets twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) at 2:37 P.M. Students with more expertise are eligible to become members of the Concert Band, which meets three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) at 2:37 P.M. Those students with a desire to learn more about "pop" music and jazz have the opportunity to be selected for the Jazz band. The Jazz band usually meets once a week (Friday) before school at 7:30 A.M. Many performance opportunities exist for students in the Peru Band program. The Concert Band performs at numerous events, most notably the LP Band Night, Band-O-Rama, and the Great America Festival. The Jazz Band performs on our school tours as well as the Great America Festival. All bands perform at Christmas and Spring concerts.
